In industries such as chemical, industrial and cosmetics, the choice of label liner is not a matter of aesthetics: it is a key decision to ensure durability, legibility and regulatory compliance. That’s why our range of inkjet solutions includes a liner that offers advanced performance and durability.
The 80µ inkjet matt white PP is a face stock compatible with both dye and pigmented inks, and designed for durability in demanding environments.
What makes it special?
- Resistance to alcohol (ideal for labels exposed to alcoholic products or cleaning processes), chemicals and shipping.
- Elegant mat white finish, with clean printing and fast drying.
- BS5609 compliant hotmelt adhesive.
- BS5609 level III certified front end with full compatibility with EPSON C-4000 and C-6500 inkjet printers.
All this in addition to the fact that inkjet technology allows variable code printing.
What is BS5609 and why is it important?
BS5609 (British Standard 5609) establishes the durability requirements for labels used on chemical containers transported by sea. It is a very demanding certification that simulates extreme conditions: prolonged immersion in salt water, UV exposure, abrasion, friction, etc.
It consists of several levels. Level III certifies that the label + print + adhesive assembly remains legible and adhered after all tests.
This makes the material a safe and reliable option for compliance with CLP and GHS regulations, especially in exports.
What are the GHS and CLP requirements?
The GHS (Globally Harmonized System) is a UN system that unifies the classification and labeling of chemicals worldwide.
CLP (Classification, Labeling and Packaging) is the European regulation based on GHS. Both require labels to include:
- Danger pictograms
- Risk and caution phrases
- Product and supplier data
To comply, labels must be clear, legible and permanent throughout the product life cycle, even under demanding conditions.
Therefore, materials that pass tests such as BS5609 are essential to ensure legal compliance.
What applications is it ideal for?
- Labels for chemical product drums (cleaning, disinfection, agrochemicals) intended for maritime transport.
- Alcohol product labels (cosmetics, perfumery, hygiene)
